I store the meta data in Zotero, which is actually a scientific reference manager. The problem with raindrop is that it is strictly a link holder - it doesn't download articles to read on the go like pocket does.įor actually reading, storing and annotating articles and sources from the Web I know download them as a PDF via a chrome plugin and annotate them with my PDF reader. I've found the free version less restricted than the free version of Pocket, which I'm not willing to pay 5 dollars per month for the premium version for. I use raindrop.io as a bookmark manager and 'read it later' app, as well as sort of like a inbox for stuff that might be interesting. When done with the notes, I export the notes to PDF - they don't live very long in Onenote itself. My grocery list and 'idea dump' inbox live there as well, as the mobile app is solid and supports writing with the pen of my Samsung Note 10 well. I actually use Onenote to take notes on stuff like lectures, videos and books. I pointed its base directory to my Documents folder, which contains everything - that ties anything nicely together. For my personal wiki I use Obsidian, which outputs notes in plain Markdown files as well. My todo list was a separate app all along (I use Amazing Marvin) - no issue here. For digital notes I use Markdown formatting and literally any text editor. Using a Fujitsu Scan scanner (which automatically OCR's) and using windows search which can full text search is eerily similar to how Evernote behaved. I now use One drive to sync my files (as I pay for office365 anyway, but any cloud storage will do). In the end, I diversified my app selection. ZOHO and Google Keep feel more like a digital replacement for sticky notes than anything else. Which is also an Electron app and gets slow after a few hundred notes. Nimbus Note has the problem that in-place editing of files without having to save it to disk isn't possible. I'm not in the ios eco system, so Bear is out. For example, Onenote has a totally different mentality, closer to a paper notebook - but I want something that works as a document management system. I've found that nothing is quite like Evernote as it used to be.
